APA sets the tone for important economic topics of the future
Globalization is entering a new phase. Asia has more weight, more and more German companies are localizing their production increasingly in large markets in Asia, North America, the EU and other regions. Major future issues such as climate change, digitalization or growing geopolitical tensions challenge not only the German economy. We want to shape global change together with our partners in Asia-Pacific. Our goal is also to improve market access and expand trade and investment in the spirit of reciprocity and fairness – also for Asian companies in Germany and the EU. We see ourselves as bridge-builders between German companies doing business in Asia and politics in Germany and the Asian partner countries.
APA is a joint initiative of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and the Association of German Banks (Bankenverband). We bundle economic concerns of German businesses with a commitment in Asia. In addition to political support, the APA organizes the bi-annual Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in the region together with the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Dr. Roland Busch, President & Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG, assumed the APA chairmanship in October 2021.
